Machinedrum MK2 Power Supply Replacement

I’m having issues with my Machinedrum MK2 power supply and need to purchase a replacement. I found this here on Reverb but wanted to see if any Elektronauts could share any other places to acquire a PSU-2B. Thanks!

You could really use any power supply with the appropriate 6V DC center positive compatible sized barrel and appropriate amperage, but I’d send an email to elektron and make sure that they don’t have one in the warehouse which they can sell you. I think the cost will be the same or better.

If they’re out of stock, then Amazon or something would be fine for a generic psu. Here’s a chinese made one from ebay Replacement 6V Adapter for Elektron PSU-2, PSU-2b Switching Power Supply | eBay

If you want the official Elektron PSU-2B specifically, there is one in stock here Elektron PSU-2b - The Disc DJ Store but just one.

I guess it comes down to how much you want to spend and what you’re willing to compromise on, but my first attempt would be sending a message to elektron support directly.

Good luck!

Appreciate the information shared! I’ll email Elektron support first and see if they have anything. On a side note, I believe the issue might be the detachable cable and not the actually power brick. Is it safe to swap a cable to see if that’s the issue? This is the culprit I believe, circled here.

Yes, that’s a standard part, it’s not specific to the brand or maker. It used to be pretty normal to get one of those exact cables with a lot of different types of equipment, it doesn’t have to be from a brick style power supply as long as the inserting end is compatible. A lot of the older stuff that those can be harvested from have an internal power supply so what I’m saying is it’s the same cable that might plug into the back of an old radio or whatever, the transformer and electrical stuff happens inside of the brick part.

I’d try that first, then if that doesn’t work proceed as you see fit.

Here’s a visual guide to end types and their names, I think elektron uses ST7 but pull it out of the socket and confirm visually. If it isn’t meant to go in, like if the shape is wrong, don’t try and force a different size into it.

This might help you in searching online if you have to buy one.

I feel fairly certain it is the one named IEC320-CT. But I am away from my PSU-2B at the moment.
I bought a spare one just recently. When I contacted Elektron support about it being out of stock on their website, they replied that they were not planning to restock in the near future. If it means never, I don’t know.
So I found one in a shop i Europe and bought that.
But if it’s just the cord that’s broken, then you can absolutely just change that.
