Iāll be dressed up for the occasion.

+1, this forum does not need any of this AI nonsense. Letās try to care a little bit about energy use. Do we really need a trained chatbot with all manuals indexed, or a LLM based āmood summaryā for the last few posts?
Elektronauts is awesome as it is because of the forum members and the moderators, no AI needed!
Please donāt enable AI
Iād also like to register my opposition to AI on Elektronauts. This place functions mostly pretty well already without it.
Update on Wednesday, nothing at all suspicious about that, nothing at all. I wonāt be having a nervous breakdown when I canāt load the site, I swear
All this time spent updating the forum when they could update Octatrack instead.
Part of the problem is the techbros conflating āAIā with everything, LLMs and generative slop and market-spiking terminology alongside general machine learning / data science that dominates a lot of what we use in more neutral, less surveillance capitalism tunings.
Avoid the Sonos approach
Looking forward to the forum being more stable and user friendly. Hope thereās a ājump to last postā button. Also hope discourse app will continue to work with Elektronauts.
+1 for no AI, iād we can still get the update. Otherwise, weād not get a āDigitackt or Octatrakā thread every other day, how lame would that be ? (jokes aside, I donāt want LLMs to be here and suggest āhelpfulā things, see the autocorrect thread)
I guess this forum gets more use than the OT
Canāt be stated too many times: Iām all against AI driven mind control features be they hidden euphemistically in āhelpersā or not.
While Iām not so confident this sentiment will be taken into consideration, Iād expect 100% transparency about the process of the integration/activation. Also I suspect terms of use of the forum would need to be updated in case of making use of LLM etc. in a way that would allow disagreement from the users. The assumption of silent agreement to such a change would be a rather bold and irritating move.
Itās highly unlikely that users will have the ability to opt out of things like having their posts included in AI topic overview summaries or other sitewide functions.
These are discourse features so the integration will probably be fairly good, but Iām probably not a fan of some of these backend changes.
Not really up to us though, is it? Donāt want to give anyone a hard time as I know that the admins are just trying to improve things overall but itās kind of an unpleasant subject.
If the majority is against it, there might be an update we could jump to before they started integrating AI? Since weāre skipping several versions. But at this point, it might be too late.
I donāt think that this is a democracy. They pay to keep the lights on, so to speak.
