I only see it when I clumsily click on it instead of the forum link.
I largely prefer the « post your current sound » thread, way easier to browse.

I used to post jams and I posted a free sound pack. It’s a nice “all Elektron Youtube playlist”. Some people post stuffs without Elektron gear at all in it though so I guess this should be at least a requirement.
If we could filter by tags (tutorial, jam, sound packs, the gear used for example), that would make it very useful.
For new comers/non registered users, this a nice place to find out what the machines can do (current sound is not exactly so straightforward and the site is slow, for me at least, so the page doesn’t load or the files don’t load either… Outsourcing to Youtube isn’t that bad in that case).

isn’t it rather so that it is very clear what it is for according to the form to fill out before someone submits their post in there - but the offered tags are useless unless we can actually filter with them. Which also means it should not be allowed to submit anything if there is no tag set at all, because if no filter for “no-tag” is given such would appear in any search. But we can’t filter inside the category, well i guess with the major search tool we can.
I have never seen content that nailed the definition of spam in there. I rather see the positive effect of having files and media kept apart from each other. And just removing it would likely lead the same content to appear somewhere else and you still have to maintain it.
I have also to admit i have a habit to categorical ignore youtube videos of sessions unless its a tutorial or experiment where videos is needed. Which is the beauty of “sounds coming from your gear part…”, mainly snippets to hear and let imagination keep up what the ears catch what others do. So i rather appreciate those lengthy gear porn (sorry the wording) videos are far away in its own category.
But i respect others like videos more and for them this category is cool, no long talk, just posts, done, scroll and hit play. Nothing wrong with that.
Apart from that, the given tags also reveal what was meant to represent. There are (almost) only Elektron gear named tags, hint hint.

Expanding on this, I like the Media section since it could be an Elektron-tube.
The reason I don’t visit is because it’s very similar to Current Sounds but without interaction or any way to browse it systematically.
I always assumed it was some kind of curated list of media that had already been posted on the forum here. Like a mods’ “best of” feed. But that was my assumption after accidentally clicking on it 4 or 5 times and not actually browsing it or looking at anything.
I rarely visit Media, but I’d like the idea of a curated flow, be that mods’/Elektron’s picks or even an algorithmic spotlight à la flickr Explore.

Honestly, I don’t see anyone investing their valuable time into curating that section while so called “media” and “content” with questionable added value is all over the place in the forum anyway.
Another idea: Make it the only place where youtube etc. is allowed and ban it from the rest of the forum.

I am give or take with the media section. I think if it was deleted, I wouldn’t be too sad. Although, if it was nicely curated, that would be a plus.
What I would like to see is the “Music” section fixed in our profiles. It would be nice to be able to check out other peoples music by clicking there profile and having the “music” section work.

circling back on this topic after the latest spam post dropped, is there any way to clean that up? there are users who post in Media but not on the forum, I guess for whatever reasons, but seeing the section hit by spam time after time really makes it unpleasant, maybe just close it and let the users post in a “Media” post or something like that?

Does it make sense to introduce the flag system under any post in media just like those on any other post in the forum, but maybe without the likes. Sharing functionality is already there…
As mentioned spam might be a rather general problem than where something is posted. So why not just use the tools available that lets Elektronauts help to flag it. If the media category would be taken away the result would likely be that posts end up in the forum, the spam would just appear in the forum then, the problem is the same.
ps: of course such flagging should be only available to forum members. Self-explanatory.
looks like the section is detached from standard forum post system, it has different submission system and everything, and that’s the issue, the normal rules don’t apply there unfortunately, I think it’s just how the Discourse app structured.
