Transfer over standard MIDI?

Hi

I know Transfer works over USB-MIDI. Can I make it work over the standard MIDI connection as well? I have tried it but it didn’t connect to any Elektron devices that I have. I chose the proper MIDI in/out ports in the Transfer app though. I thought it should work theoretically since USB-MIDI is kind of emulating the standard MIDI over usb.

I’m also curious about this. The Transfer manual specifically only talks about USB, but USB is much harder to route through my rack than the MIDI that’s already hooked up. Any way to make this work?

I’ve successfully done a sysex firmware upgrade over DIN from this screen which is part of the transfer software.

When I got my second digitakt it was still on something like 1.13 and I had to get it on 1.20 before it could be recognized as a USB device.

I’m not sure that it has the same batch upload properties as the rest of the app, but it must be at least partially supported / functional if it can be used to update your firmware.

I know it’s a headache but might be worth contacting support to ask. I think that at a minimum, it will be a more labored process than the general experience of using tranfer’s drag and drop batch conversion method.

It was quite a while ago, but I do think that it recognized the device identity over DIN. I could be wrong about that though, it’s the one-part of this that I can’t clearly recall.
